Alert! Beware of Scams or Fraud by Commodum Groceries Private Limited
Recently, I got a fake payment request of ₹703.91 on my Google Pay account from a UPI ID: 83855405@ptybl. I didn’t know the company, so I immediately blocked and reported the UPI ID on Google Pay and declined the payment request. Later, I searched for the company online and found some shocking details.

What Did I Find?
Fraud Reports on Google Reviews:
Many people have written bad reviews about this company on Google. It has a 1.6-star rating from 44 reviews.
Most people said they got scam calls where the fraudsters asked for OTPs to “help” with payments. Instead, money was deducted from their accounts, like ₹1,441 through Mobikwik. (See Screenshots below)
LinkedIn Claims:
On LinkedIn, there’s a company with the same name, described as a licensee of the Zepto brand, an app offering grocery delivery in 10 minutes. But this doesn’t match what people are saying in the reviews.
What is the truth?
While the LinkedIn profile paints a legitimate picture of the company, Google reviews tell a different story, with several fraudulent claims. It is unclear whether the company listed on LinkedIn is the same one that is involved in these scams or the company name is being misused by scammers.
How Do They Scam?
Here’s how the scam works:
- Fake Payment Requests: Scammers send you payment requests on apps like Google Pay.
- Fake Calls for OTPs: They call pretending to help and ask for your OTP to reverse a payment. Instead, they steal money from your account.
- Trusted App Misuse: They use apps like Mobikwik and Google Pay to make their scams look real.
How to Stay Safe?
- Don’t Share OTPs: Never share your OTP with anyone, no matter what they say.
- Double-Check Payment Requests: If you don’t know who sent the request, decline it immediately.
- Search for Reviews: Always check reviews online if you’re unsure about a company.
- Report Scams: If you get scammed, report it to your bank, Google Pay, or Mobikwik and inform your local cybercrime office.
